RETREAT WEBSITE DESIGN

Let people get a sense of your retreat before they decide to spend their time, travel, and money.

Choosing a retreat is really about trust, not just comparing options. I create websites for retreat owners that answer the key questions right away: who it’s for, what a typical day is like, where guests stay, what’s included, and the cost.

Do your inquiries go quiet, or do you find yourself always explaining your retreat to someone?

You hesitate to send your website link because the directory listing says more about your retreat than your own site does.

You answer the same questions every week: Twin or single? Dietary needs? When is the deposit due? What if someone has never done this before?

The retreat programme details are scattered across a PDF, a post, and several emails, so no one can see the whole picture.

Choosing a retreat is a big decision that takes trust and a real investment, often from someone who hasn’t met you yet.

Your website is where that trust is either built or lost. I help you keep visitors exploring your retreat online.

Sharing practical details won’t make your retreat feel any less special.

These details help people say yes. Twin or single room, what’s for dinner, who’s leading, what if they can’t keep up. Once these questions are answered, your retreat can really stand out.

What a retreat website needs to do

Say who it is for

Are beginners welcome? Is experience needed? State this clearly so the right people book and no one feels left out.

Show the day or programme

Show a daily schedule so guests can imagine themselves there, and include what to bring and how to find you.

Show spaces for rest / eating

Rooms, bedding, whether they are shared or private, what meals look like and how dietary needs are catered for.

Introduce the facilitator

Share a bio that feels personal - what the facilitator does, how they work, and why guests can trust them.

Make booking clear

Dates, prices, deposits, and what happens next. Guests use your booking system that matches your website’s style.

Keep the relationship yours

Add an email sign-up for your next retreat, so people who aren’t ready now can stay in touch and hear from you later.

It’s easy to know what needs to be included. The real challenge is deciding what to say, in what order, and how the site should feel.

Not sure how your website compares? A Listing Review will check it against this list.

  • You own or run a retreat, or host retreats at your venue.

  • Guests ask the same questions before they book.

  • You want a site you can update yourself.

Not for…

  • Large resorts or tourism groups that need enterprise booking systems.

  • Anyone who wants guaranteed bookings. Nobody honest can promise that.

  • Anyone who needs me to replace their booking system. I connect the one you use.

Questions retreat owners often ask

Do I need a booking system for my retreat?

Not always. For small groups, a simple enquiry form is enough. If you take deposits or sell rooms by type, a booking tool is helpful. Let me know how many people you host, and I’ll recommend what works best.

How do I fill a retreat without relying on a directory?

Keep your directory listing, but also give people a place of your own, like your website, your email list, and connections with past guests and referrals. It grows over time and belongs to you.

What if my dates aren’t finalised?

That’s okay. Begin with a waitlist or an expressions of interest form, and switch to live booking once your dates are confirmed.

Can you work with the booking tool I already use?

Usually, yes. Let me know what you use, and I’ll explain what works well and what might not.

What about dietary and health details?

Those details should go in your booking software if you use one. I’ll help you set this up carefully. Otherwise you can collect this info via a web form.

Can you guarantee more bookings?

No, and no one can honestly promise that. I make your retreat clear, trustworthy, and easy to inquire about. Demand also depends on price, dates, photos, reviews and word of mouth.

Squarespace or Rocketspark?

Squarespace works well for retreats with overseas guests and lots of photos. Rocketspark is best for simple, local, and NZ-hosted retreats. I’ll suggest the right one after we talk.

Can I update it myself?

Yes. Both platforms are designed for this, and I’ll show you how to update dates, prices, and photos.

What do I need to have ready?

Your dates or a rough season, prices, what’s included and whatever photos you have. If something’s missing, we’ll chat about what’s worth sorting first.

Tell me about your retreat

Just a few lines are enough. I’ll reply to you personally.
